Seven Years (Acoustic) x Saosin

A short update before I dive headfirst into a jam packed week ahead.
Not really forward to anything, except for Sunday, of course =D

So, basically, life has been pretty much the same, hanging out with my girls and (somewhat) helping Mr. Sea Soldier welcome the upcoming Lunar New Year (shopped, baked etc...).

*Five minutes later*
I pretty much sliced my thumb open a few minutes ago so I'm gonna cut this, initially wordy, entry extra, extra short.

Our version of Speak No Evil, See No Evil, Hear No Evil

Its admirable how D maintains her pose through the shots, even as J and I burst into peals of laughter or strike up conversations with one another...

We mustmustmust set foot in the lecture theater next week, yes?
No more excuses, at least for the next few weeks *winks*

And lastly, to the fortunate many who'll be collecting those Yusof Ishak filled red packets and basking in the presence of those familiar around you, the boy and I would like to wish you a very, very happy and prosperous Lunar New Year.

And, also...

=)

Tangled Up In You x Staind

I'm going to grow my hair really, really long...
Well, maybe just one palm past my shoulders and I'm hoping that the natural curls...

Will look like hers...

*prays*
I'm signing off here to end this totally pointless (but filled with hope) entry.

I Wanna Hold Your Hand x The Beatles

Girl : *searches frantically through purse* Got your keys? Earphones? Did you leave anything behind with me?
Boy : Yes, my heart...

And that was how you got me tripping and stumbling.

Ain't No Other Man x Christina Aguilera

Finally, the new semester commenced today, at 10 am.

Needless to say, much like my classmates, I wasn't ready to switch back to "student mode"... but I guess, I don't have much of a choice, do I?

I ended the first lecture of semester 2 being scared out of my wits.
The module I'm sitting for, Commercial Law, only has a 30%-40% passing percentage across all 7 R/M/I/T universities.
That's all the campuses, worldwide.

And the Aussie lecturer kept repeating that this is not a "Mickey Mouse subject"... meaning not something you take lightly, I suppose...

Argh, crap.
This is not good.
NOT good.

Save Me x Staind

2008, came and went.
I swear that last year's countdown concert to 2008 is still pretty vivid in my mind.

So, at this point of time, it still feels surreal to me.
2-0-0-9.

2008 has been fruitful, personally.
Spent another year together with family, with friends and with Han.

Graduated with a diploma and am now sitting for a degree.
Watched Han and Rain go through major hairstyle, physical and mental changes and then sat through their POP.
Made new friends through uni and work and saw with my own eyes that most Singaporean customers aren't as bad/kiasu/unreasonable as we're labeled to be.
We're pretty nice people, without having to try too hard.

2008 also brought about many heartaches/heartbreaks.
But I believe and I know, that what doesn't kill me, will make me stronger.
I just know that struggling and fighting through the troubles, problems and mishaps will help mould me into a being who is far stronger and capable than I could ever imagine.
Insyallah =)

So, I spent the last day of the 2008, having an impromptu dinner for 2 at Duke Road's Mad Jack, with Mr. Sea Soldier.

And today, the 1st of January 2009, marks the 34th month of our union...

You're the fire, that warms me when I'm cold.
You're the hand I have to hold as I grow old.
You're the shore when I am lost at sea.
You're the only thing that I like about me.

In this world where nothing else is true.

Here I am, still tangled up in you.

Thank you for spending 2006, 2007 & 2008 with me.
I will always have a weakness for you.

Goodnight Goodnight x Maroon 5

Been quite a busybee as of late.
A short update:

1) Han's posted to a Sea Soldier vocation, and I've no clue what it's about, but words such as "Frontline" and "If terrorists were to come attack Singapore, they'll see your faces first", doesn't ease my heart very much.

2) Am still working 6 days shift, and Singaporeans go craaaaaaaazyyyy in Build-A-Bear Workshop during X'mas.

3) You know how people have weird habits to kick the worries and stress away? Things like reading, or taking a nap? Well, I found out that mine is Intensive Cleaning and Clearing Up : / I guess, the need to feel in control of something leads to the need of cleaning up for me.

4) And lastly, as of now and forevermore, I shall order only Fish&Chips whenever I dine at Fish & Co. Period. No more being adventurous or taking risks.

Enjoy the day off! =)

Circus x Britney Spears

The past week and this week were/are going to be eventful.

Have been and will be spending my off days with my a couple of my most favourite people.

Had a big family dinner + 1(the being who Mum claims is my "handbag"), kudos to Dad's bonus.

Took Rifqy to the playground for the last time, cos he's shifting all the way to Yishun (BOO!).

And of course, (as we now know), went to Han's & Rain's Passing Out Ceremony.
Meeting his folk was way, way, wayyyyyyyyy more nerve wrecking than waiting for my exams results.
But all went well (I hope!), and his dad being really, really warm and nice to me really, really helped.
Phew.

Also, cooked Sutchi fillet fish and chips with butter mashed potatoes for Han.
Like, finally.
That totals up the menu to:
1) Beef noodle soup
2) Butter cookies
3) Double choc chip cookies
4) Cake (Don't remember what type, though)
5) Butter fried rice
6) Vege fried rice
7) Ham & eggs with chocolate butter bun...
8) Maggi goreng (LOL)
9) Stir fried vegetables with rice
10) All my hari raya goodies
and sumpah, aku tak ingat lagi...

And of course, the remaining days left were contributed to b/e/a/r building, which is not as fun as it should be because you're tired and cranky, cos you work six days a week.
However, the thought of the money that's gonna make its way into the account at the end of the month, keeps me going, full steam ahead.

Shopping with Rain tomorrow.
And then, with Han the day after.
Can't wait, seriously.

Oh, the joy that is gift vouchers =)
Its like going into shops and coming out with free stuff (which are literally what vouchers are for, anyways).
Come, gimme, gimme moreee!

Cater To You x Destiny's Child

When the whistle blows
Silence everywhere
And the flag goes up
In the battalion square
Soldiers all around
Never let you down
Cos we are the best
In the SAF

So echo, echo out loud,

Zulu warriors marching in and out (yah!).
So echo, echo out loud,
Zulu warriors never let you down (yah!).

I'm so proud of you
And I could tell your parents were too =)

Right Now (Na Na Na) x Akon

Results were released wayyyyyyyy earlier than expected.

Imagine waking up to an excited friend on the phone, at 11 am, on your only day off from work and hearing,
"SHIKIN! RESULTS RELEASED ALREADY! GO SEE!".

I was a nervous wreck as I logged onto the school's site.
And the results that greeted me, made me breathe a HUUUUGEEEE sigh of relief and needless to say, I started screaming for my mother who was ecstatic upon knowing I made it through, with results that I'm more than satisfied with.

Alhamdulillah.
Phew.
The first of five burdens are released.

Night soon came and I got ready for the Build-A-Bear Workshop's Annual Dinner.
Needless to say, we all partied like rockstars =D
Images up as soon as I get my paws on 'em.

Thanks to those who believed in me, for the non-stop encouragement and for pushing me to do my best.
I'm eternally grateful.

YAY!

Lollipop x Three Six Mafia

Finals results are gonna be released this coming Thursday, at 5pm.
Needless to say, I've been having panic attacks for the past 2 weeks.
Non-stop, sudden and uncalled for panic attacks, to be exact.

I AM SO STRESSED/SCARED/PARANOID/WORRIED... and all that bad stuff.

Han's POP-ing 6 days after that.
By then, I'll know my results... so I'm anticipating whether I'll be bawling like a baby or celebrating like a lunatic alongside him.

I'm in a desperate need of a va-ca-tion.

p.s. Happy 33rd. I love only you.

Wonderwall x Oasis

Finally, finally, finaaaaalllly, the long overdued outing with my beautiful ladies was fulfilled, a few Fridays back.
4 platters of really tender, succulent fish, a hilarious movie after dinner and gal pals just talking, laughing, reminiscing and rejoicing within the cosy circle.
Zann's Norwegian Salmon and Lala's Fish & Chips.

Linda's Grilled Platter for One and my Flamed Platter for One.
Totally delicioso. *smacks lips*

Thank you for the chocolates,Zann, and thank you, ladies, for the laughter, the recalling back of the panic attacks during both FYP and for sharing and laughing over things that only we 4 "Dabus" understand.
Group huddle!

Anndddddddddd, I can't wait for Saturday's events. *does a jig*

Breakin' Dishes x Rihanna

My weekend was wondeeerrrrrfuuuuuuuulllllllllllllllllllly spent with my two favourite Zulu warriors.
Saturday evening was spent with Rain and my Sunday & Monday was filled with lotsa TLC with my one and only.

So, on Saturday, Rain and I finally went to catch Avenue Q!!

It was awesomeeeeeee.
Funny, brilliant, witty with just the right amount of dirty in it.
We were laughing from the moment it started all the way till the cast and puppets took their curtain call.
We managed to satisfy ourselves with more than 10 pieces of our favourite gourmet chocolates
before heading to the Esplanade.
Also, Mr. Rain managed to grab himself an Avenue Q tee, from NUM's limited edition line, with the title of his favourite song from the show; "It Sucks To Be Me".
So, as you can tell, everybody was a winner at the end of the day =D

Sunday came and I happily bounced off bed the moment Mr. Sun made his entrance.
After (another) 2 loooooong and painful weeks, I was contented just sitting next to him in the bus.
Headed to Beach Road for some good ol' Indian dishes and to look for army stuff.

Then, as if we (okay, I) weren't full enough.
The boy wanted to go for the strudels that I raved about while he was in field camp.

Apple and Durian strudels for the both of us.
No other place does strudels like these - flaky, light and oh-so-good.
It just hits every single taste bud in the most spectacular way possible, the filling inside - cool and buttery... (and I can go on and on and on).
And we thought that a "slice" would be small, but boy, were we wrong.
A "slice" was more like a third of the entire strudel loaf.
Totally worth it.

I know you are in dire need of a massage, especially after field camp...
So, the next time we head out, we'll pay dear Ah Wong a visit, yea?
I'm pretty sure he still remembers us, love.

Right.
Alas, we all know that my exams are over and done with.
Hence, I'm kept busy with work and other random stuff.
Just to name a few...

1) Fixing hairdos on the display bears in the store.

2) Taking care of my butterfly.

Back to work tomorrow after 1 day of rest after 7 straight days of non-stop working.
Thank God I adore what I do
.

p.s. To my three favourite ladies, I can't wait to finally meet up this Friday!

Please Don't Stop The Rain x James Morrison

With the finals over, it spells f-r-e-e-d-o-m for my girls and me =D
So, off we went to get a dosage of good old retail therapy.
Got us some shoes, perfumes and all that good stuff... and we ended the day with a couple of drinks, with our bottoms secured on extremely plush seats.
It was THE bomb.

Again, again!

And, YOU....

Don't Look Away x Joshua Radin

Taken on the second day of the eleventh month of year two thousand and eight.

'Twas the last day that I met my soldier boy before he goes off for field camp = 2 weeks confinement starting from this week = lots of live/dummy grenade throws = 6 days of killing imaginary enemies in the forest.

Amidst the major cramming for the Macroeconomics paper (which took place today and was KILLER. argh) and preparing for 2 weeks confinement in camp(again) we both managed to squeezed some time to play a little bit of soccer with the not-so-little-but-now-doubly-adorable Rifqy, before the 3 of us proceeded down to send Han onto the bus and on his way to gather with his fellow comrades-in-arms.

Sigh.

On a much, much brighter note, the papers for both Marketing Principals and Macroeconomics are over and done with... but everyone knows the real war begins on Monday.
Accounts paper.
Urgh, the evil that is Maths, how I despise you.

edit/
i love the fact that you still write me letters... and seal and send 'em in envelopes.
and, i think its incredible, that someone i find so unforgettable, thinks that i'm unforgettable too.
i can't wait to see you.

Sunday, November 02, 2008

Finals.
One paper down, two more to go.

Can't wait for it to be over.

You Make It Real x James Morrison

Two BIG candles on the birthday cake symbolized a new coming of age for me.
When the clock struck midnight on the 26th of October '08, I turned...

20!
(*insert "in-denial" face here*)

The boy and I went out early in the morning, to celebrate what he called "The Biggest Event of The Year" *rolls eyes*
We strolled through town to head for the birthday lunch at Carousel.
For $60++ per person, we indulged in lobsters, scallops, crème brûlée, tiramisu, white/dark chocolate mousse with macaroons... and so muchhh mooore *pats bloated tummy*

And during the course of our meal, he handed each of my gifts, starting with the handwritten letter, followed by the rest of the wrapped packages, one at a time.
Sweet, yes? *beams*

What made this year's birthday extra special was that I got me 2 birthday cakes!

The first cake was a surprise from Ms. Tina, a day before my birthday, the day the poly peeps and 3 cars ventured out for the grand-finale-visiting trip of Aidilfitri '08.
Thanks, you guys... Really sweeeeeeeeeet =)

And the other cake, was really significant to me.
Something that I'll remember for years to come.
Han, apparently, was roped in for the surprise that my family planned.
When I saw him coming out from the kitchen, into the darkened (BLACKOUT, MY FOOT!) living room, with my family and friends belting out the birthday song (with Rain echoing the last 2 words to each sentence, loudly), I burst into tears.
Hahaha *blissful sigh*

So, with birthdays...
COME PRESENTS!

Thank you love, for the gourmet chocolates,Lava lamp (not in picture), Baby Blues Treasury (my favourite comic!), the 'You Are So Beautiful' wind up gadget, Swarovski earrings and vintage tee.
Thank you, Tina & Yat, Lan & Lala, Diana & Zaid, Rain, Asri, Hida and Marianah for the laughter, the pictures, the memories and the singing of birthday songs x 2 and the birthday cake!
Thank you friends and family for the special birthday text messages, calls and tags.
Thank you, little sister, for the Wish perfume.
Thank you, little brother, for the Sembonia wallet.
And thank you, to my ever loving parents, for the Guess handbag, for the efforts, for the support in everything I do and for accepting my choices in life and love.

The love I feel for all of you and from all of you, is beyond measuring =)

How did we end my first day of being a 20 year old?

We spent some quality time with two of our favourite little people =D
Seeing Rifqy warm up to Han, Trisha looking up to him from his arms and the pure bliss on Han's face, was the best gift of them all.
Something warm for me to hold onto, for a long, long time.

Alas, that was my 20th =)
I guess I've gotta learn to embrace this new age and finally let go of the "I'm Forever 19" mantra.

So what if my age for the next 10 years will begin with the digit "2"?
For, right now, with my loved ones around me, I'm loving it!

Break Even x The Script

The past 2 weeks have been pretty fulfilling.

Despite the stress and tension from school, what with the finals around the corner, we managed to take a break and indulge in a little retail therapy...
To town for dresses, wedges and cute, plaid printed tanks.
To Bugis for gladiator sandals and maxi dresses.

(Fulfilled our last shopping trip before we mug hard and smart for our finals, which will be over in the next 2 weeks *crosses fingers*)
[Note: Girl with bangs - NOT Classmate]

And due to the exams, I took a 2 week study break from work and I MISS EVERYONEEEEEEE!

(One of the photos the BearBuilders took for the BABW International Magazine.)

On a final note...
...the 25th is almost here!
The long awaited jalan raya (yes, late, we know) trip with the poly mates is just 2 days away =)
Can't wait to meet up... and let's just hope there won't be any major hiccups along the way.
Insyallah.

And as much as I'm starting to hate the a/r/m/y, Han's booking out tooommmmooorrrooow =D
I can't wait for the weekend!

Now, back to more studying... *insert depressed face here*

When I Look To The Sky x Train

Gotta stop taking things for granted.
Gotta appreciate what's mine right now.
Gotta realise that he's really giving more than me in this thing.

Because it seems that everyone around me sees the significance and beauty in this relationship.

And because, a friend said to me, "He's a keeper."
And because, trust me when I say this, because I know I don't want life without him.

Magic x Robin Thicke

Exams riggght around the bend...
And out of the 3 modules I'm taking this semester, I'm only confident of my Marketing Principles and Macroeconomics.
Accounting? Not so.

Problem is, when sitting through accounting lectures, I actually fully understand what's going on... but when I do my revision back home, I can't seem to grasp the concept... I don't know what went wrong.

But I'm sure I'll do well enough to not have to repeat this semester's modules...
Right?

Insyallah.

p.s Thanks, love. For being the sweetest angel in the world... made me smile like a fool, all alone in the bus =)

Love Song x The Cure

Need you here to twirl a lock of my hair aimlessly as we walk, talk or sit.
Need you here to give me that very same smile, first thing every time you see me.
Need you here to pinch my nose when you think I'm not listening to you when you're talking.
Need you here to give me that grin each time we end up wearing our Everlasts together, unplanned.

I just... simply need you here.

Sigh...
